New for 2017 at the NI Countrysports Fair will be Sling Shot with 5 competitions altogether over the two days Р2 on Saturday 27th and 3 on Sunday 28th.  Philip Neeson from The Great Outdoors and Chris Gaffin, current Irish Sling Shot champion, will be overseeing these competitions at the show

Ulster Sling Shot Champion

The three Pro competitions all carry points, and the person who accumulates the most points over the three Pro shoots will become the Ulster Champion.

On Saturday the first competition will be a Pro shoot, involving speed and accuracy.

Within a 3 minute window the competitor must hit as many targets as possible to accrue points.

This is open to anyone who wants to participate but will favour the more experienced shooter.

Novice Competition

The next competition is open to novices only, that is, anyone who hasn’t been placed in any of the national titles.

It is on an eight metre range and will be scored on points.

Any member of the public can enter this competition.

Catapults will be provided for anyone who doesn’t have their own.

On Sunday the competitions will include two Pro and one novice.

The first competition Pro shoot is on an eight metre range.

The second competition is another novice shoot at eight metres.

The third competition is a ten metre Pro shoot.

There are trophies for all five competitions and a trophy and title for the Ulster champion.

In the times between the competitions there will be a catapult school. This is for members of the public to have a go for a small fee. They can shoot competition catapults at knockdown 75mm discs, and get instruction from experienced shots.

There will be a workshop for making replacement bands, and competition catapults/bands/ammo will be on sale over the two days of the Fair
